AYUMI – Advancing Systems for Sustainable Food Processing and Circular Water Management for Irrigation

AYUMI is a European and Mediterranean initiative transforming agricultural water reuse from a marginal practice into a mainstream, system-scale reality. While the technology for water reuse exists, systemic barriers – like fragmented governance, weak economic incentives, and safety concerns – have historically blocked its adoption. AYUMI is designed to break down these barriers. By embedding modular, high-readiness treatment technologies into operational infrastructures, AYUMI proves that treated effluents can become safe, regulated, and circular inputs for modern agriculture.
